SundaeSwap Testnet: Easy Steps on How to Test the 1st DEX

2021-12-06 · DeFi

SundaeSwap Testnet phased is ready for testing and this article will take you through the process of how to test SundaeSwap on Testnet.

How to test SundaeSwap on Testnet

With the SundaeSwap Decentralised Exchange (DEX) launching on the Cardano Testnet, we have the opportunity to test the DEX, provide feedback to the teams and allow all parties to make changes, tweaks and upgrades to the network, code and user interface to provide the best experience as possible.

The team from SundaeSwap need testing and feedback on the DEX. This is the best time to provide that feedback before it hits the Mainnet for full public use.

This is how we can prepare and start testing the DEX.

To test the SundaeSwap Testnet you will need to install a web3 style wallet such as Nami Wallet or the development version of the Yoroi Nightly. For this example, we will be using Nami Wallet.

Wallets such as Daedalus do not have the ability to talk to a website as they're a standalone application. The SundaeSwap Testnet is a website decentralised application.

A future version of Yoroi is being worked on at the moment and there are updates coming very soon. As soon as a public version is available, we'll be reviewing it and publishing new guides on how to use it.

For now, all SundaeSwap Testnet interactions will happen with Nami Wallet.

UPDATE: SundaeSwap team have built in a Faucet to distribute test tokens

You can still get some test ADA for general testing on other platforms but you won't need to get them from the Cardano Faucet to get tested on the SundaeSwap Testnet.

SundaeSwap testnet faucet

The SundaeSwap Testnet Faucet will distribute tADA and other test assets to fill your Testnet wallet.

How to Test the SundaeSwap DEX on Testnet (SundaeSwap Testnet Process)

Install NamiWallet

Go to https://namiwallet.io/, and install Nami Wallet on your browser.

You can follow our full tutorial on how to set up Nami Wallet if this is your first time using Nami.

Switch Nami to Testnet

The next step is to change the settings in the Nami wallet to connect to Testnet instead of using the Mainnet.

Click on the profile icon, and choose Settings.

Click the Network option.

Change the toggle switch to Testnet

Load the SundaeSwap DEX

Visit the testnet website at https://testnet.sundaeswap.finance

Connect Your Wallet

Click on the Connect wallet button on the website and connect the Nami wallet to the website. You will see the button change and a drop-down appear when hovering over the button.

Fund Your Wallet with Assets

From the BETA Guide button, click Fund Your Wallet.

This process will take a while. Wait while your assets are being distributed to your wallet. Once they have arrived, you can proceed.

Start a Swap

Click on the SWAP button to start a SWAP transaction.

Choose a Swapping Pair

Choose the token in which you want to swap and the token you want to swap to and enter the amount you would like to swap,

Confirm & Sign

Click and hold the confirm button on till it is complete.
Release to start building the transaction.
When the Nami window appears, sign the transaction with your sending password and submit it.

Congratulations

You have now successfully performed a swap on a Cardano DEX.

Did the Faucet Run Out of Test ADA?

Tweet at me your Testnet address and if I'm at my computer I'll send you a little tADA for testing.

I have received the different tokens into my wallet. But can not swap or add liquidity to any pool NAOMI is telling me - collateral no set. Does not allow me to sign in for the transaction request.

I get Insufficient wallet balance on whatever I try. I have 1,000 ada if I try 10 ada I get the error message. Also if I change the slppage same thing
  • sanjay · 2021-12-07
I couldn't get the swaps to work because wallet stated there was no collateral thus could not sign and had to cancel
  • Peter · 2021-12-07
Under the wallet settings. Click Collateral and add 5 tADA to fund the wallet. This buffer pays for transactions.
  • Peter · 2021-12-07
Sounds like the collateral issue. Make sure that is funded on the wallet.
  • Peter · 2021-12-07
Yeh. In my video I didn’t show the process of adding Collateral. Open the wallet settings -> click collateral and fund the wallet with at least 5 tADA.

I'm lost at the swap, I have this on the naomi wallet "Your collateral amount is 5 t₳." On the SundaeSwap page it shows that the naomi wallet is connected. The portfolio wallet shows assets as 0 ADA. No explanation as to anything on the page. Home page is totally confusing to me. I have no idea as to what the content refers to or what to do with it. No feedback or explanation when I hover the mouse over anything. Are we expected to know what everything is for.? My experience is basically, copy the address to send to and paste it into the send address along with the amount. I think that, in the select token window, on the swap, may be referring to the "ADA = 0" below the windows. Lack of information on what I see on this exchange has left me totally confused! The best exchange experience I have had is from CoinSpot here in Australia, if you check it out, it may help with some ideas. Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this project, I know it will all be worth while in the end. Kind regards Tom.

Hey Tom, did you follow the video tutorial on how to use the DEX. I think I covered everything you're asking there.
  • jody · 2021-12-12
This site looks amazing. How soon will I be able to test it? Many thanks Jody
  • Peter · 2021-12-13
The testnet is available right now and you can test the DEX to see what it is like.

Thank you for the tutorial. It all looks fantastic and so looking forward to this going live. I had a few comments/questions this far. 1) I have submitted to the pools and added liquidity. However, the transactions have not gone through. Going to the transaction button they are listed and I can cancel them, but they just sit there and are not reflected in my 'position' tab. Its been about 15 min so far. Am I missing anything? Also, I have noticed a HUGE discrepancy between what Sundae says I have in my Nami wallet vs what Nami says I have. Like as in 6 zeros of a mismatch. Any thoughts? TIA!

Not feeling the love here. I have been unable to complete any tasks but 1 and that was with like 100% slippage. I have no tADA left and can't get more. Tried the Beta Guide but all I get is this... "Welcome To The Public Testnet Beta! Unfortunately, there are currently no dApp capable mobile wallets ready for the testnet. Give us a try on desktop!" Feeling fairly frustrated and questioning the future, I get there are growing pains but some things should be a no-brainer, like instructions that are all in one place and actually work.
  • Peter · 2021-12-16
That’s been reported by other people as well. The transaction is submitted for liquidity but doesn’t actually take effect.
The decimal places might not g Be set up correctly. Cardano’s default decimal is 6 zeros. So that might be the issues. Please report all these issues to the teams via their google form.
  • Peter · 2021-12-16
Firstly, use the Cardano testnet faucet to get more tADA. Secondly, DeFi doesn’t work on mobile. They say there are huge security issues. The error that your getting would only appear on mobile. Are you using desktop ?
  • Peter · 2021-12-16
It’s strange that the instructions didn’t appear for you. It leads me to believe that your wallet isn’t in testnet mode but you sat your out of tADA so it sounds like you are.
  • Mo · 2021-12-18
thanks for the feedback. I sent it along to their google form. cheers

How to convert testnet ballance to mainnet after sundaeswap mainnet dex launching. I have very small amount of liquidity pools unable to either swap ada tokens or tada tokens to nomi wallet mainnet
  • Peter · 2022-02-25
You can't convert testnet to mainnet. They're separate chains and don't inter-relate to each other. What you earn or play with on Testnet doesn't and won't reflect on mainnet.
